About the Photographs

River Folk
After spending years in San Francisco, we moved to the Russian River just north of SF. It was a tight knit community in a small town. Again, I was able to photograph friends and neighbors. There was a "Live and Let Live" area. Although there were some homophobic people in this rural environment.

Just Being Gay
The "Just Being Gay" series, formally called "Home-Makers" These photos were taken in the early 1990's. They depict gay people in their homes. To many people the home signifies stability, security and comfort. It is a safe haven where one's identity is reflected by their surroundings. The normalcy of life is emphasized, not sexualized as some may wish to stereotype the LGBTQ+ folk.

Airports and Airplanes
I come from an Aviation family and spent lots of time in airports and on airplanes. In fact, I became a flight attendant when I was 19. I was intrigued about the juxtaposition of strangers transiting through the this space. The awkwardness of passengers having to be close to others with no control of their environment.
